Living a holy life with God in a world that entices us with its evil desires like the unclean spirit of Babylon can be challenging. There are many lessons in Babylon we can learn about how to not fall into their fate. In Revelation 18:2, God describes what will happen to those who live sinful lives:

“’Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’ She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.”

Revelation 18:2

To seek God’s presence amidst this darkness, take deep breaths with the knowledge that He has prepared this time just for you, without condemnation but with a desire to mold you into His image. Picture exhaling heaviness and inhaling God’s wisdom for guidance. Be still, listen for His voice, and let go of any restraints holding you in darkness. Open your hands to receive His wisdom and embrace His forgiveness.

Reflect on past struggles and areas needing surrender to God. Acknowledge brokenness, seek His cleansing, and trust in His protection. Recognize the need for self-reflection, as David did in Psalm 139:23-24, saying “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

The lure of wealth, power, and worldly pleasures can be overpowering, leading us astray if we’re unprepared. Romans 3:23 reminds us of our human imperfections, urging us to seek forgiveness and purification through confession. Trust in God’s grace and mercy, knowing He forgives those who repent.

Imagining a path with two conflicting choices, resist the temptation of the easy but misguided route favored by others. Opt for the narrow, uphill path of righteousness, even when faced with peer pressure or ridicule. By following the light of God’s peace, you can find true guidance and rewards in His presence.

Lord, I pray for the ability to discern Your will for my life. Help me choose the right path. Keep me safe. Give me clear direction and the ability to withstand the evil of this world that tempts me away from the pure and beautiful life You have for me. Let Your light shine brightly on my path today and everyday. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
